Just as good homes start with a solid wood foundation, good businesses start with a solid family foundation. |

Scott and Leslie Cheney launched Prestige Hardwood Flooring, Inc. in the new millennium. The company opened for business on January 1, 2000, sitting solidly on the foundation of Scott's decade of experience in hardwood flooring and Leslie's decade of experience in accounting/business operations. Another ten years, (plus, over 1,000 of gorgeous floors later), Prestige sits even more solidly on a reputation as a respected local family business.
No job too small. |
Scott first began working with hardwood flooring in 1990. Despite the fact that Prestige grew to employ ten additional craftsmen, Scott continued to work on much of the flooring himself. "No job is too small or too big," he says. Clients appreciate Scott's easy-going demeanor, responsiveness, patience, and eye for design. "I like to help people through the
decision making process." he says. "If clients aren't sure what they want, I'd rather wait and have them be pleased with their decision." Scott is licensed in Oregon and Washington and has successfuly completed National Wood Flooring Association's (NWFA) professional training. Since 2003, in his spare time, Scott has volunteered as a coach for Bend North Little League and Bend Parks and Recreation District's youth basketball and soccer programs.

Leslie manages all financial matters and handles the company's marketing and graphic designs. The Cheney's have been married since 1991 and have two remarkable sons. "We've been working together since the beginning," says Leslie. Scott adds, "We wouldn't know what to do if we didn't work together." | ![]() |

One of Scott's brothers, Dale, has also been with the business since 2000. "We are very fortunate to have such a talented and caring craftsman on our team," says Leslie. Both Scott and Leslie have longstanding ties to Central Oregon. Born in Redmond, Oregon, Leslie is a native Central Oregonian. Her parents have lived in Central Oregon since 1944. Scott and his family have been in the area since 1989. Perhaps it's that established sense of this community that makes friendships as important to the Cheney's as business. "We like to treat people with respect and kindness, as you would a best friend," explains Leslie. No surprise that many clients end up being just that. Even Prestige's very first customer is still a friend and client. "We not only turn old worn out floors into beautiful masterpieces, we turn clients into treasured friends," says Leslie.
Got supplies? |
Over the years, Scott has seen many changes in the industry, including an increase in hardwood flooring choices. "When I started, it was all oak and maple. Now, we do a lot of hickory, bamboo, hand-scraped, distressed, reclaimed, cork—anything goes. Whether it's a unique or a traditional floor, each of our floors are a work of art." Prestige also offers a full line of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified hardwoods, guaranteed to be sustainably and legally logged. Environmentally-conscious professional cleaning supplies are available, as well. Prestige Hardwood Flooring, Inc. has been a reliable presence in the Central Oregon home building market for over two decades. The company is headquartered in northeast Bend. "We are still very busy," says Leslie. "We feel blessed every time a new and/or existing client selects our company to make their floors "prestigious". Two floors are hardly alike. Each floor is a one of kind. Request your "one of a kind" floor by Prestige Hardwood Flooring, Inc. today! |
